From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. In the ongoing saga of Manchester United's goalkeepers, David De Gea has been named in their 28-man squad for the Champions League qualifier with Club Brugge.

However Victor Valdes, United's other goalkeeper in limbo, was not named among the players.

Valdes has not even been given a squad number this season, having angered Louis van Gaal and appears to be fifth choice keeper at the club.

De Gea meanwhile did not play in the season opener against Tottenham, but has been included for United's first Champions League qualifier since 2005.

United play Club Brugge at Old Trafford on August 18 and play the return leg on August 26.

Their squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers: David de Gea, Anders Lindegaard, Sergio Romero, Sam Johnstone

Defenders: Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo, Jonny Evans, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Paddy McNair, Matteo Darmian, Tyler Blackett

Midfielders: Adnan Januzaj, Michael Carrick, Daley Blind, Ashley Young, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata

Forwards: Memphis Depay, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez, James Wilson.
