From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Ronaldo was sprinting after a pass when he pulled up with a grimace, hopped over the sideline and gestured to the Portuguese bench to be substituted. After some brief treatment on the side of the pitch he was replaced by the Benfica midfielder Pizzi.
Portugal were trailing 1-0 to Dusan Tadic’s penalty at the time, but pulled a goal back before half-time scored by Porto’s Danilo Pereira.
It is only a little over two weeks until the first leg of Juve's quarter-final, in Amsterdam on 10 April, before the return fixture the following week in Turin.
