Cristiano Ronaldo looked anything but impressed after Real Madrid were beaten 4-3 by Schalke, despite the fact the Champions League holders progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition on aggregate.

Perhaps it was unsurprising.

Whilst the Ballon d'Or holder managed to come up with a couple of headers to keep his side in touch, Real Madrid were overrun by the German side for much of the match and the visitors will leave Spain ruing a missed opportunity to dump the reigning champions out of the competition.

After the disjointed display, many Real Madrid fans performed an act that is perhaps the last thing any Real Madrid manager wants to see - the waving of white handkerchiefs. The protest signal will not have gone unnoticed by boss Carlo Ancelotti and it certainly didn't go unnoticed by Ronaldo.

CR7 stood out in the centre of the pitch to soak up the toxic atmosphere and managed to look incredibly unimpressed - even flashing what's been dubbed a 'death stare' on Twitter in the direction of the camera that was filming him.

After that performance, do you think Real Madrid can retain their Champions League title? Let us know in the comments below.
