From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

English clubs could make up half of this year's Champions League quarter finals if all goes to plan in the second week of last-16 ties.

Liverpool and Manchester City booked their places in the last eight with dominant aggregate wins over Porto and Basel respectively.

Tottenham Hotspur came close to joining them but were edged out by a brilliant Juventus side over two legs, losing 4-3 on aggregate.

It is now up to Manchester United and Chelsea to secure progression. Jose Mourinho's side stand every chance of going through after bringing a 0-0 back from their first leg away to Sevilla.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will have to produce a memorable performance at the Nou Camp to overcome Barcelona after drawing 1-1 at Stamford Bridge.

When is the draw?

The draw will take place on Friday 16 March at 11.00am GMT in Nyon, Switzerland, two days after the completion of the final last-16 ties.

How does it work?

The draw is unseeded and there will be no ‘country protection’, meaning teams from the same domestic league can be drawn against each other.

The team drawn first in each tie will play the first leg at home, with those drawn second starting away.
