Your support makes all the difference.Having already criticised his former club Arsenal for a lack of playing time, Gervinho has taken another swipe at the Gunners after he admitted he will be cheering on Napoli when they arrive at the Emirates tomorrow evening.
Gervinho claimed manager Arsene Wenger showed “no confidence” in him during his time in north London, forcing him to seek a move away from the club and head to Italian side Roma.
And having developed a reputation for cracking under the pressure when presented with a goal-scoring opportunity, he appears to have put some of those demons to rest – at least for the short-term – after he bagged a double in the Serie A match against Bologna, where the Giallorossi ran out 5-0 victors.
The landslide victory gave Roma their sixth win out of six matches, leaving them top of the Italian league with 18 points – two more than nearest rivals Napoli and Juventus.
Following the win, Gervinho was asked about the upcoming Champions League encounter between the Gunners and the Naples side, and while wishing his former club all the best, he admitted he hoped the Italian side would prevail.
In a radio interview, Gervinho was quoted as saying "I had lot of affinity with Wenger but more with (Rudi) Garcia (his coach at Lille before his Arsenal switch).
“I wish good luck to Napoli against Arsenal, I hope Italians progress in the Champions League.”
