Bayern Munich are seeking to progress to the quarter finals of the Champions League for the fourth straight year when they play Shakhtar at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night.

The Ukrainian club, who have only qualified for the last eight only once in their history, will be buoyed by Bayern’s inability to capture an away goal in the first leg.

Despite Xabi Alonso’s suspension after receiving a red card in the fractious first encounter, and Philipp Lahm’s continued absence due to an ankle injury, Shakhtar have it all to do against a side for whom losing is simply not an option.
