From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

With some bookmakers giving odds as low as 1/200 for Bayern to qualify to the quarter-final, it is clear that Arsenal will go in search of what can only be described as a minor miracle in Munich.

The Gunners task of overturning the 3-1 deficit has been made even harder with the news that dynamitic midfielder Jack Wilshere will miss the clash after picking up an ankle injury.

Jupp Heynckes’ side have been in destructive form this season, leading the Bundesliga by a staggering 20 points. Their domestic home record is just as impressive, with only one loss through the entire season.

The Bavarians have won every game since the two sides last clashed, and they will want to make sure there is no repeat of last season when coming up against an English side at the Allianz. Munich lost out to Chelsea in the final of the competition last season despite the game being played at Bayern’s home ground.

Few would have predicted Arsenal as the last English club still standing, yet with all signs pointing to their exit, those who watch the remainder of the competition will have to pin their hopes on David Beckham flying the flag for England instead.
