Your support makes all the difference.New Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has promised fans that he will bring “the most spectacular football” to the club after his unveiling as Jose Mourinho’s successor yesterday.
The 54-year-old, who was appointed after his exit from Ligue 1 champions Paris St-Germain was confirmed, will sign a three-year deal with the La Liga club.
During his presentation in the Santiago Bernabeu’s presidential box today, he stated: “This is the most prestigious club in the world and we have to win by playing the most spectacular football because the history and tradition of this club is in playing offensive football, and we're going to work hard to play the football that will make the fans happy."
The Italian believes that the club already has everything in place to make his reign a successful one, having cast his eye over the facilities available to him upon his arrival.
"We have been to the training ground - it's fantastic," he explained. "Everything that we need is there. I think this is going to be a very good project. I have the support of the club, the president and the fans, so I think this will be a very happy season for Real Madrid."
The former PSG, Juventus, Chelsea and AC Milan manager had been linked with the Madrid role from the moment that Mourinho’s departure was announced, even though the new Chelsea boss still had a few weeks to see out before the end of his contract.
Madrid’s club president Florentino Perez explained why he felt Ancelotti was the right coach for Madrid, who ended last season in turmoil with reports of a spit between Mourinho and the majority of his playing squad.
"His style and character fits the profile of this club perfectly," Perez said. “He is a proper football man, an intelligent man and a natural winner.
"He is the coach our directors and members wanted the most and he was also the coach I wanted the most."
Perez did warn Ancelotti though that the job comes with the added pressure that no other club manager has on his shoulders.
"Ancelotti has experienced the highest amounts of pressure in the most intense dugouts in the world, but he should know that nothing he has experienced will be similar to what awaits him at this club," he added.
"Years ago I said to him 'You will be my coach', and this day has arrived. It was Carlo's dream to coach Real Madrid and that has been completed. The challenge starts here, and here the challenges are always gigantic."
