From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Barcelona beat Cadiz 3-1 to register a club record 12th consecutive win - despite being without Ronaldinho and Xavi Hernandez.

Ludovic Giuly broke the deadlock after 31 minutes before Samuel Eto'o converted a penalty on the stroke of half-time.

Eto'o's second made sure it would be a landmark win for Barca, although substitute Nenad Mirosavljevic gave the home crowd something to cheer with a stoppage-time consolation.

Deportivo La Coruna stunned local rivals Celta Vigo with three first-half strikes as they moved up to third in the Primera Liga.

The Galician derby turned on the award of a 22nd minute penalty to the visitors, which also led to the dismissal of Celta goalkeeper Jose Pinto.

Diego Tristan scored the penalty, and further strikes from Juan Carlos Valeron and Joan Capdevila before the break sealed the win.

Athletic Bilbao continued their improvement under coach Javier Clemente with a 2-0 win over Real Betis, which momentarily at least, lifts them out of the relegation zone.

First-half goals from Ismael Urzaiz and Mikel Danobeitia gave Athletic the win.
