From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Barcelona website advertises tickets from €119 (£103) and VIP tickets starting at €955 (£824) for home fans, but it is expected that many Liverpool fans will have bought those tickets after their away allocation of 4,620 seats quickly sold out.
Liverpool have subsidised away tickets after Barcelona priced them at €119, contributing €31 (£27) per ticket to reduce the fee per fan to €88 (£76).
However, tickets have quickly appeared on websites such as StubHub, where category one seats are listed for €4,000 and VIP tickets are being offered for more than €8,000. The cheapest pair of tickets on the website are listed at a total of €600 (£518).
The first leg will be played on Wednesday 1 May ahead of the return at Anfield on Tuesday 7 May.
