From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Eto'o, 28, has successfully rehabilitated his career with the Catalan club after coming close to leaving last summer.
The former Real Madrid and Real Mallorca striker has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in recent months, but Laporta is optimistic that he will start next season at the Camp Nou.
Manchester City are reportedly leading the chase as they look to set up a dream pairing of Eto'o and Carlos Tevez.
"Samuel has a contract and we're very happy with him," he said. "We want him to continue with us and for him to retire in the Barca shirt.
"But the market is very dynamic and there could be surprises. He's a wanted man and we know he'll receive offers.
"We want him to continue, he has a contract and let's hope he renews it."
Real Betis coach Jose Maria Nogues has resigned following his club’s shock relegation from the Primera Liga.
The 50-year-old had been backed to stay by the club’s board, but Nogues has opted to fall on his sword at the Seville outfit.
He told the club’s official website: “I have accepted that I will not continue because I had failed to obtain our safety, I did not achieve the objective.
“The situation of the club and the environment calls for a new start and I accept that. I believe Betis needs changes and one of them is the coach.
“It has been bad for me because it was the opportunity of a lifetime, I had the chance to show I could work in La Primera.
“The fact that I was thinking about continuing here was first out of recognition to the club, to help the team return to La Primera, and also because of my pride, that is wounded right now.”
Jose Antonio Camacho will stay on as Osasuna coach after agreeing a one-year contract extension.
The former Real Madrid and Spain coach took the reins at the Reyno de Navarra in October and successfully kept them in La Liga despite a season dogged by relegation fears.
The Pamplona outfit survived on the final day of the season after a surprise win over Real Madrid.
"Jose Antonio Camacho will be the coach of Osasuna during the 2009-2010 season," confirmed a brief club statement.
Getafe have raided La Liga rivals Almeria to sign defender Mane on a four-year contract, while they have also handed a new one-year contract to defender David Belenguer.
