Arsenal were stunned by Rennes in the Europa League as they fell to a 3-1 defeat in their round-of-16 first leg.

Alex Iwobi put the Gunners ahead and they seemed set for a straightforward evening, but everything changed when Sokratis was sent off for a second yellow card.

Rennes scored almost immediately as Benjamin Bourigeaud fired in a brilliant half-volley moments before half-time.

And they added two more in the second half to take a significant lead into the second leg in a week’s time.
