Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Anthony Martial is in line to start his first game for Manchester United at PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday following his dream debut at the weekend.
United beat rivals Liverpool 3-1 on Saturday evening, with the £36million Frenchman climbing off the bench to score a stunning solo goal in front of the Stretford End.
The deadline signing of relative unknown Martial, who had only scored 11 professional goals for Lyon, for such a huge fee was criticised in the build-up to the match.
But the teenager impressed with his performance and with United starting the game with midfielder Marouane Fellaini up front - and looking rather toothless in attack in the first-half - Louis van Gaal could turn to the youngster.
Wayne Rooney is expected to miss the match, while James Wilson and Javier Hernandez are both out on loan.
"The goal of Anthony, not a bad goal I think!" said Van Gaal after the match.
"It was also a match for him now. He has a lot of space so it was more easy to bring him. But he did it alright. He scored a marvellous goal and I have seen also, physically, he can play in the Premier League."
But the Dutch coach added that he would wait to see how Martial recovers before making a firm decision.
"You will have to wait and see how the players recover," said van Gaal. "That is the most important thing.
"Three days – because it was an important match – for everybody, also with the pressure, for the result against Liverpool.
"So they need three days to recover. Then I shall decide."
