Eric Cantona has posted a bizarre and explicit video on Instagram showing a penis smashing an egg.

In the video, the former Manchester United and France footballer can be seen holding an iPad which shows footage of an unknown man using his penis to smash an egg placed on his stomach.

The Frenchman posted the video on his Instagram page without any accompanying comments. It has since been removed from the social media platform.

Cantona has never been one to shy away from controversy.

His infamous 'kung-fu' kick on a Crystal Palace fan in 1995 attracted headlines worldwide and saw him handed a lengthy suspension from the game.

It is unclear whether the Instagram message is linked in any way to tonight's Manchester derby, which sees Cantona's former club take on rivals City at Old Trafford.

United have the chance to derail City's hopes of a second successive Premier League title under Pep Guardiola.
