Follow live coverage as Arsenal face Brighton & Hove Albion today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.

The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.

Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:

The free-kick is cleared by the Gunners. It's then up in the air and boos ring out as Saka is down holding his face. The half-time whistle cuts through the frustration.

Joao Pedro is causing trouble for Arsenal. The Brazilian jinks past Saka, then goes for a give-and-go, Partey pulls him back. Perhaps the dissent, paired with the foul, has earned the yellow card for the Ghanaian.

Mitoma gives the ball away to a decent Arsenal press. Saka then receives the ball and plays it to Trossard, yet the Belgian's edge of the box flick is poorly judged and Veltman smashes clear. Arsenal come back again, and Trossard then gets in behind on the left before cutting back on his right to fire low at Verbruggen. Routine save, perhaps the winger should have crossed.

Unhappy with the challenge, Hurzeler is now in the book for his dissent. The tackles continue to fly in. Joao Pedro is wiped out and Hinshelwood takes the free-kick from the left. It looks like an Arsenal player has touched it, yet Cavanagh has given a contentious goal-kick for the hosts.

Rice has flown through Veltman there! He's not out of control to be fair. It's a worthy booking as Veltman just poked the ball away from the England man.

GOOAAALLLL! Havertz with a marvellous lob! A long ball comes over the Brighton line and Saka out-muscles Dunk! It comes through to Havertz, and he delicately lifts it over Verbruggen who's in no man's land!

Minteh is fouled by Gabriel. The free-kick, deep on the right, is claimed easily by Raya and he starts a break that eventually comes to nothing. However, Arsenal are still pushing up the pitch.

Brighton haven't conceded a first half goal in any of their last three Premier League games. Before that run, they'd conceded six first half goals across their prior five league outings. Can Arsenal change that, and in turn, continue their fine form of first half goals?
