Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.YEOVIL TOWN missed out on the chance to return to the top of the Nationwide Conference on Wednesday when their fixture at Kingstonian was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.
The Somerset side will have another chance to displace Stevenage Borough, who are ahead on goal difference, from the top of the league when they travel to lowly Telford United today. Yeovil enjoyed a brief spell leading the Conference, for the first time in their history, earlier this month.
The good news this week for Yeovil has come off the pitch. They have earned pounds 27,000 from the pounds 250,000 sale of their former striker, Howard Forinton, from Birmingham City to Peterborough United. Colin Lippiatt, the Huish Park side's head coach, has strengthened his squad by signing the former Southampton midfielder Paul Tisdale, who played in the European Cup-Winners' Cup quarter-finals last season for the Greek club Panionios.
Stevenage have a tough game today at home to Kingstonian. The other key fixture in the Conference sees third-placed Hednesford Town entertain fifth-placed Rushden & Diamonds.
The former Torquay United manager Stuart Morgan has been dismissed as manager of the Dr Martens League Premier Division club, Dorchester Town. The decision was made after last weekend's 3-0 FA Cup second qualifying round defeat at the Screwfix Direct League side Taunton Town.
