From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

'He had been following a vegetarian diet which contained herbs and substances prohibited by Fifa (world football's governing body),' he said. 'It was the sort of diet people follow to get into peak fitness.'
Johan Cruyff, the Barcelona coach who was due to take charge of the Netherlands before falling out with the Dutch football federation, has called the World Cup 'boring'. He accused the winning semi-finalists, Italy, of 'negative' tactics and Bulgaria of 'chaotic' football.
Joel Quiniou, of France, and Jose Torres Cadena, of Colombia, will referee tomorrow's World Cup semi-finals, it was announced yesterday. Quiniou will referee Italy against Bulgaria at Giants Stadium in New Jersey. Torres will be in charge when Brazil meet Sweden at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles. The referees for Sunday's final and the third-place play-off on Saturday will be announced after the semi-finals.
