Football: Warhurst makes headstrong return
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

(Wednesday win 10-2 on aggregate)
PAUL WARHURST, whose life was briefly endangered when he swallowed his tongue in the first leg, scored the winning goal away to Spora Luxembourg last night to complete a 10-2 aggregate victory as Sheffield Wednesday eased into the second round of the Uefa Cup.
The striker recently converted from a defender was making his first appearance since that fateful night at Hillsborough two weeks ago.
Warhurst showed no after effects as he rose to head Wednesday back in front from a corner in the 34th minute.
Gordon Watson put Wednesday ahead after 28 minutes but Joao Cruz equalised two minutes later. After Warhurst restored the lead, Wednesday dominated the remainder of the match but fail to add to their score against a packed defence.
Spora's tactics were criticised by Wednesday's manager, Trevor Francis. 'They played with seven at the back and even when the ball went out of play after five minutes their coach was reluctant to give it back. That shows the level of their ambitions.'
