Paul Gascoigne may be playing with Manchester United next season, according to the People, which reports that Brian Kidd, the assistant manager at Old Trafford, has already had talks with the Lazio and England midfielder.
Kidd is said to have visited Gascoigne in Italy last week, only to be spotted by a delegation from Newcastle, which the People rather mysteriously described as being on a "fact-finding tour".
Speculation about Ron Atkinson's next signing - without which no self- respecting Sunday tabloid is complete - attracts interest, with the Sunday Mirror suggesting that he wants Ian Rush, and is willing to offer Peter Ndlovu in part-exchange, while the People reports that a deal worth £500,000 for Arsenal's striker Paul Dickov was on the table before George Graham was sacked as manager and may be resuscitated when the dust settles at Highbury.
Norwich may be the unlikely destination for Newcastle's transfer-seeking midfielder Lee Clark, according to the News of the World, with the same paper suggesting that Joe Royle will make a bid for Aston Villa's Dean Saunders this week.
