Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Barnsley v Charlton
Barnsley pair of Bryson (bruised wrist) and Anderson (groin) are fit, but Biggins (ankle) is out. Walsh (hamstring) has late fitness test for Charlton, who have not won at Barnsley since 1935-36.
Derby v Luton
Kitson, Harkes, Williams and Charles have been on the treatment table so McFarland delays naming Derby team. Dickov, Arsenal's reserve striker on loan at Luton, goes straight into side. Dixon (Achilles), Preece (knee), James (broken hand) and Harper (virus) are out.
Grimsby v Southend
Jemson, in last loan game for Grimsby, replaces Shakespeare. Angell returns from loan with Everton to spearhead Southend's attack alongside Lee, who has recovered from Achilles trouble. Gridelet makes debut in midfield to replace suspended Jones. Either Locke or Hunt will replace Ansah, injured in a night-club last weekend.
Millwall v West Bromwich
Millwall's Dawes (cartilage) out but Goodman is expected to fit while Rae's ban is over. Albion's Lilwall (concussion) and Fereday (foot) still sidelined so makeshift defence is two midfielders, O'Regan and Ampadu.
Notts County v Bristol City
County's Short ordered to take month's rest to rid him of a virus. Bristol City's Tinnion (foot) faces a late test while Allison (ankle) returns, but may be only as far as the bench.
Peterborough v Portsmouth
Cooper (gashed knee) joins extended Posh casualty list; McGlashan steps into breach while on-loan Oliver deputises for suspended Spearing at left-back. Portsmouth give a League debut to full-back Pethick as Neill and Price are still injured. Kristensen drops back to replace Symons, absent with Wales.
Sunderland v Birmingham
Sunderland miss Gray (ban) so Howey takes over in attack. Ball moves to centre in place of Melville, on Wales duty. Bennett (knee) and Armstrong (hamstring) await fitness tests. Birmingham's long injury list joined by Hiley (knee) and Saville (knee). Canada's impressive Hooper set for League debut.
Tranmere v Bolton
Tranmere sweat on fitness tests for Aldridge (thigh) and Muir (groin). Kelly (bruised thigh) is Bolton's doubt.
TOMORROW
Watford v Middlesbrough
Watford include Charlery. Boro's Stamp, the England Under-18 midfielder, in line for his First Division debut.
Oxford v Stoke
On-loan Whitehead returns for Reece in Oxford goal. On-loan Muggleton continues in Stoke goal. Regis (knee) out.
