Aston Villa v Chelsea

Villa's full-back Small is expected to continue in Staunton's absence while Barrett will play his first game for five weeks after suffering a trapped nerve in his leg. Chelsea will again be without suspended skipper Wise.

Everton v Manchester United

Barlow is a surprise choice in Everton's attack, replacing Rideout (groin). Horne has responded to treatment and is expected to play. Parker is out of United's team due to flu and his place will go to either Phelan or Martin.

Leeds United v Blackburn Rovers

Batty, who fractured a wrist a month ago, may return after playing for Leeds' reserves in midweek. Blackburn's left-back Wright and captain Moran are added to the squad.

Manchester City v Liverpool

White has recovered from an ankle injury and is in City's squad. Vonk and Hill are also fit again while McMahon is under treatment for a thigh strain but should play. Reserve defender Matteo is added to Liverpool's squad. Dicks (knee) is out, with Clough (virus) and McManaman (thigh) doubtful.

Norwich City v West Ham United

Newman, normally a central defender, could partner Sutton in Norwich's attack because of injuries to Ekoku and Robins. West Ham winger Gordon may return against his former club after two reserve games.

Oldham Athletic v Arsenal

Injury-hit Oldham suffered another blow when striker Olney was ruled out with flu. Striker Ritchie has also failed a test on a calf strain. Arsenal's Keown (hamstring) is out but striker Wright has recovered from a hamstring injury.

QPR v Coventry City

QPR have named a 20-strong squad due to a series of injuries. There are doubts about Peacock (back), Allen (thigh) and Barker (leg). Coventry striker Wegerle (ankle) will not play against his old club.

Sheffield Utd v Sheffield Wed

United give fitness tests to goalkeeper Tracey, full-back Bradshaw and winger Whitehouse. Wednesday manager Francis delays naming his team as injury and illness meant 11 players did not train this week. Francis has put himself on stand-by as a last resort.

Tottenham v Swindon Town

Tottenham will be without injured striker Sheringham and the suspended Caskey. Howells will play alongside Barmby and Anderton while Calderwood returns to the defence after suspension. Swindon, give a fitness test to Bodin (calf).

TOMORROW

Southampton v Newcastle United

Southampton could recall winger Le Tissier but will be without Dutch defender Monkou (suspension). Wood could step in to partner Moore in defence.
