Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Arsenal v Swindon Town

Arsenal have a full squad available, though midfielder Hillier is still recovering from a shin injury. Successive wins against Coventry and Spurs gave Swindon a springboard, but four defeats and three draws in the last seven, despite Fjortoft's scoring streak, keep the club in the relegation zone.

Blackburn v Manchester Utd

Blackburn's England defender Le Saux has recovered from a thigh injury received against Wimbledon in midweek and centre-back Hendry (also thigh) will have a late test. United manager Ferguson could recall McClair to partner Hughes up front or play Giggs up front with Sharpe on the left flank as Cantona starts a five-match suspension.

Chelsea v Southampton

Chelsea's player-manager Hoddle (Achilles tendon) has ruled himself out, striker Stein (ankle) is still out and midfielder Newton is also doubtful. Southampton give fitness tests to midfield player Maddison (tonsilitis) and new signing Heaney (thigh strain).

Coventry City v Wimbledon

Coventry keep faith with the team which ended a run of four defeats by beating Norwich last weekend. Wimbledon are likely to be unchanged as they attempt to avoid a hat-trick of away defeats.

Liverpool v Sheffield United

Liverpool striker Fowler, relegated to substitute in the midweek defeat by Manchester United, is almost certain to be recalled. Tracey will make his first appearance in goal for United since last November, replacing Kelly, who has knee ligament damage. Striker Blake is fit and likely to return.

Manchester City v Aston Villa

Manchester City remain unchanged with Coton (knee), Phelan (knee) and Kernaghan (hamstring) still under treatment for their injuries. Aston Villa could be boosted by the return of Daley and Townsend after injury, though Townsend (back injury) will require a late fitness test. McGrath (neck) and Atkinson (hamstring) are still ruled out while Froggatt is doubtful with a knee injury.

Norwich City v Tottenham Hotspur

Norwich City striker Robins returns to the first team squad for the first time since October and could claim a place on the substitutes' bench. Top scorer Sutton (stomach upset) should be fit to return, probably at the expense of midfielder Ullathorne. Striker Sheringham returns to Tottenham's squad for the first time since October after three operations on his right knee. Midfielder Howells also

returns. Edinburgh, Austin (both groin) and Hazard (Achilles tendon) are ruled out.

Oldham v Queen's Park Rangers

Oldham midfielder Henry pulled a hamstring in the midweek win at Southampton and is replaced by Brennan, who has played only in seven games this season. Queen's Park Rangers give fitness tests to England Under-21 winger Sinclair (groin strain) and midfielder Meaker (shin). England full-back Bardsley will again be absent on compassionate leave after a family bereavement.

Sheffield Wednesday v Everton

Sheffield Wednesday look set to be

unchanged after scoring their first win in nine games with a 3-1 victory over Chelsea earlier this week. Snodin is expected to maintain his position of sweeper for Everton. Cottee and Rideout are in the squad but manager Mike Walker is likely to keep the team who earned a point at Aston Villa in midweek.

West Ham United v Ipswich Town

West Ham, nine Premiership games without a win since New Year's Day and desperate to avoid what would be a fourth successive league defeat, are again without experienced Martin while former Liverpool defender Burrows and midfielder Butler (knee) are big doubts. Ipswich will again be without defender Wark (head injury) and 14-goal leading scorer Marshall (knee). Left-back Thompson is also missing again with a hamstring injury.
