Kenny Dalglish's first move into the transfer market will not cost Newcastle a penny, according to the People, who report that the Portuguese Under-21 international defender Raul is moving on a free transfer after the expiry of his contract with Farense, who previously wanted pounds 2m. The report also hints at a summer move for Colin Hendry. The News of the World, however, reckons Dalglish is poised to bid pounds 3m straight away for Blackburn's highly rated reserve goalkeeper Shay Given. He is also wanted by Sunderland, who the Mirror says are ready to offer Dalglish pounds 2.5million for Lee Clark. Mirror spies also reckon Blackburn's pounds 3.8m purchase of the Widzew Lodz striker Marek Citko is to go ahead this week, despite a People report that manager-in-waiting Sven Goran Eriksson has sanctioned only a loan deal, which Citko does not want. The People believes Ruud Gullit has eyes on another Italian, the Roma midfielder Francesco Moriero, and claims Eric Cantona has "told pals" he wants to succeed Alex Ferguson as Manchester United manager.
