Whichever Premiership club the Norwich City striker decides to join, the agreed pounds 5m fee will eclipse the British-record pounds 4m Rangers paid Dundee United for Duncan Ferguson last year.
The rivals have agreed to meet Norwich's valuation of the England B international. Both make their pitches to the 21-year-old today. 'It's public knowledge that we are one of the two clubs in the hunt,' Arsenal's managing director, Ken Friar, said. 'We have permission to talk to the player. George Graham will see him and we'll take it from there.'
Sutton said: 'I am going to listen to the two clubs and see what they have to say. My main concern is to go to a club where I can improve my game. Money is not my god.'
Sutton is having a busy week - he was arrested early yesterday following an incident in Norwich's nightclub district. 'Some slight damage was caused to a car,' Robert Chase, the Norwich chairman, said. 'The police have said the matter is now closed.'
Leeds United have agreed to pay a club-record pounds 3m for Genoa's Czech international striker, Tomas Skuhravy. The 28- year-old will sign a four-year deal tomorrow. Bryan Roy yesterday completed his pounds 2.5m transfer to Nottingham Forest from another Italian club, Foggia. 'I can't wait to get started,' the 24-year-old Dutch international winger said.
