ROBBIE DENNISON'S 21st- minute goal settled a compelling contest which was battled out on a mud bath at Molineux in front of a 24,053 crowd yesterday.
Dennison's strike, after Kevin Keen's free-kick had been cleared to him on the edge of the area, ended Bolton's 16-match unbeaten run. The Lancashire side had dominated much of the contest but were denied by a series of superb saves from the Wolves goalkeeper, Mike Stowell.
Jimmy Phillips, the Bolton full- back, was left hanging his head in disbelief after his close-range header was pushed away by Stowell after Robert Fleck, on loan from Chelsea, had nodded on a cross by Jason McAteer.
Wolves, with only one defeat in 17 games, have now won three games in a row, all by the odd goal. They had their moments, particuarly late on when Steve Bull brought a tremendous save from Bolton's goalkeeper Aidan Davison.
