From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. NEVILLE SOUTHALL became the most-capped Welsh footballer of all time as his country collected their first win in four outings in last night's friendly at the Kadriorg stadium, Tallinn.

The Everton goalkeeper surpassed the previous record, held by Peter Nicholas, as he won his 74th cap. He proved his worth with a superb first- half display as Mike Smith's experimental side overcame the Baltic republic, who are still looking for their first win in 22 internationals since regaining independence.

Smith awarded three new caps: Swansea's Jason Bowen, Ryan Jones of Sheffield Wednesday and the Reading defender, Adrian Williams. His depleted team struggled, on a narrow and bumpy pitch, to keep Estonia at bay. Martin Reim hit the woodwork and a header from the same player forced Southall to produce his best save.

Wales were the better team after the break, and Ian Rush struck with his 28th goal for his country in the 53rd minute. Dave Phillips' free- kick to the far post was met by Williams, who set up Rush for a close-range finish.

Five minutes from the end Phillips scored with a 25-yard shot before Reim, felled by Mark Bowen, converted the spot kick.
