Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Trevor Sinclair's pounds 3m move across London from Queen's Park Rangers to West Ham looks likely to be completed tomorrow after the Upton Park club's two Northern Ireland internationals, Iain Dowie and Keith Rowland, agreed to move to Loftus Road as part of the deal.

West Ham are waiting for their managing director, Peter Storrie, to return from business in Australia to finalise the details of Sinclair's transfer.

Liverpool's Mark Kennedy has joined Queen's Park Rangers on loan. The 21-year-old, who signed for Liverpool for pounds 1.5m from Millwall in March 1995 but made just eight appearances last season, has signed for the First Division club for six weeks with a view to a permanent move.

QPR have sold their New York-born goalkeeper Jurgen Sommer to Major League Soccer in the United States for around pounds 175,000 and have also agreed terms for the left-back Rufus Brevett to join big-spending Fulham for pounds 375,000.

The Wolves manager, Mark McGhee, is planning to offer a new contract to his highly rated defender Dean Richards, who is a target for Arsenal. The former England Under-21 international captain has 18 months left on his current deal, but McGhee wants him to sign a new three-year extension.

The Leeds United manager, George Graham, has offered Bruno Ribeiro a new contract despite the fact that the Portuguese Under-21 midfielder is tied to the Elland Road club until 2001. Graham is keen to reward Ribeiro for his progress.
