PARTICK THISTLE took the points in the Glasgow derby, thanks to two George Shaw goals which gave them their first league win over Celtic at Parkhead since 1964/5, and gave Liam Brady's side their fourth defeat in five games.
Goals either side of the interval enlivened what, up until that point, had been a poor spectacle. It was Thistle who confounded the problems of a Celtic defence, which had leaked 10 goals in its previous four games, when Shaw sneaked in at the near post to get his head to a Paul Kinnaird cross.
On the other side of the interval, Celtic's equaliser arrived just two minutes after the restart when they replaced the ineffectual Gerry Creaney with Joe Miller, but it was Andy Payton who got his head to a Boyd cross to put Celtic level.
Even so, Thistle kept their shape as Celtic pushed forward but the closest the home side came was 10 minutes from time when Collins hit the post with a free kick. The closing stages saw Thistle hit Celtic on the break and Celtic did not heed the warning of an 82nd minute attack when Shaw shot wide from inside the box.
Shaw, however, made no mistake five minutes from time when he got on the end of another Kinnaird corner which had been headed on by Britton. He struck the ball high into the net to register Celtic's third successive defeat in Glasgow.
