Football Round-Up: Aberdeen agonise over Aguilera's finale

ABERDEEN found themselves in the peculiar position of being disappointed having scored two away goals at Torino in a European tie, writes Ben Clissitt. Mixu Paatelainen, with a glancing header, and Eoin Jess had given the Dons a clear lead after just 24 minutes of the Cup-Winners' Cup second round first leg, but it was not enough.

Torino refused to capitulate and finally won with two minutes to go. Raffaele Sergio scored for the Italians in first- half injury time and, in the second half, they took a firm grip. Daniele Fortunata volleyed home six minutes after the break and almost on the whistle Carlos Aguilera was successful with a 30-yard free-kick.

Milan were unambiguous in their 6-0 demolition of FC Copenhagen in Denmark, which all but guarantees them a place in the lucrative league stage of the European Cup. Jean-Pierre Papin and Marco Simone both scored twice, the balance claimed by Brian Laudrup and Alessandro Orlando.
