Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.THE RANGERS striker Michael Mols has been ruled out for the rest of the season, after tests revealed he had damaged his cruciate knee ligament.
The Dutchman was injured in Wednesday's Champions' League defeat to Bayern Munich and yesterday's verdict confirmed the club's worst fears. The heartbreaking news is a huge blow to the 28-year-old, who has hit 13 goals for the Ibrox club since joining from Utrecht for pounds 4m at the end of last season.
The absence of Mols is just as big a setback to Rangers as the loss of the Swede, Henrik Larsson, to Celtic. The two Old Firm rivals meet at Ibrox tomorrow and Dick Advocaat, the home manager, is likely to pick Jonatan Johansson and Rod Wallace as his strikers.
Celtic are still without Stephane Mahe but are likely to demote Mark Burchill to the bench to allow for Ian Wright's return. The veteran forward was ineligible for Thursday's Uefa Cup loss to Lyon.
