Now, having failed to start a senior match for United and suffered a broken leg on loan to Luton in 1996, the 5ft 9in striker is anxious to take any chance that comes his way. It could be at Burnley, where the manager, Chris Waddle, has taken him on a two-week trial and was impressed by what he saw in the reserve team last week.
