From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ipswich Town, who also suffered play-off disappointment, travel to Griffin Park for the first leg of a tricky first-round tie against Brentford, the Third Division champions.
Burnley will be seeking revenge for last season's 6-0 defeat by Manchester City when they face Joe Royle's side in a Lancashire derby. The Clarets travel to Maine Road in the first leg.
Cheltenham Town, the Third Division newcomers, will have a difficult Worthington Cup baptism against First Division Norwich City.
The Brighton-Gillingham tie presents an intriguing tenant-versus-landlord contest as the Seagulls meet last year's Second Division play-off final losers in both legs at the Priestfield Stadium.
Managerless Stoke City will be hoping to impress potential candidates after the departure of Brian Little by gaining revenge on Macclesfield, who defeated the Potters at the same stage last year.
Blackburn and Charlton are the only First Division sides not involved in the first round, the first legs of which take place in the week commencing 9 August.
