Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.RANGERS will almost certainly seal their fifth successive Premier Division title if they beat Aberdeen at Ibrox tomorrow. The defending champions remain seven points ahead of their nearest challengers after Saturday's action, with a 3-0 win over Dundee coming as something of a diversion from the nail-biting frenzy of recent big games.
Ally McCoist scored his 50th goal of the season and both he and everyone connected with the Rangers cause will hope the goals keep coming, as the Ibrox club enter a vital stage of their season.
After the encounter with Aberdeen comes the Tennents Scottish Cup semi-final against Hearts, followed by the crucial European Champions' League match at Marseille. Stuart McCall and Ian Ferguson also scored for Rangers, whose injury problems appear to be easing at the right time. However, the club have been surprised at a fine of pounds 8,000 imposed by Uefa over the conduct of their fans at the game in Bruges on 3 March.
Aberdeen kept their distance with an unconvincing 1-0 win over Motherwell in which their midfielder, Brian Grant, suffered a broken arm. Behind the Dons, Celtic kept alive their hopes of a European place with a 3-2 win over Dundee United at Tannadice.
At the foot of the table, the battle against relegation roars on, with Dundee in danger of being sucked into the mire. They are now just four points ahead of Falkirk, the bottom club, with Airdrie and Motherwell between the two.
Raith Rovers need just two points to guarantee promotion from the First Division following their 0-0 draw at Ayr, and a 2-2 draw between Dunfermline and Kilmarnock, the second- and third-placed sides, opens up the race for the second promotion place, with Hamilton and St Mirren back into contention.
