Your support makes all the difference.GORAN PETRIC, Dundee United's Serbian defender, faces a Scottish Football Association inquiry following the incident in which Ian Ferguson, of Rangers, was sent off in the last minute of last weekend's Premier Division match at Ibrox.
Ferguson received a red card for spitting at Petric last Saturday - but the former Partizan Belgrade player had allegedly provoked a response by elbowing the Rangers man in the face - although the referee, Bill Crombie, did not see that.
Ferguson has already received a fine and a reprimand from his manager, Walter Smith, but the SFA's referee supervisor, Hugh Alexander, has now submitted his report on the Ibrox game, and it includes a reference to Petric's behaviour.
Ferguson must appear before the SFA disciplinary committee on 17 January, and Petric is likely to be asked to attend. The SFA's chief executive, Jim Farry, has made it clear that use of elbows will not be tolerated, especially after the John Fashanu / Gary Mabbutt incident.
In today's League programme, Rangers are obliged to call up several reserves for the encounter with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. The champions are lacking five international players who were involved in the 3-0 thrashing at Ibrox by Dundee United.
Ian Durrant and Dave McPherson have undergone operations, David Robertson broke a bone in his foot, Richard Gough aggravated a groin problem, while Ferguson starts a four-game ban after his dismissal.
