From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Alex Ferguson said Manchester United would "respect" whoever wins the Barnsley v Tottenham replay and then goes to Old Trafford for a tough FA Cup fifth-round tie.

The Premier League champions were given what looks like an easy passage into the quarter-finals but Ferguson knows the home draw was vital for his treble aspirations. "We are delighted to get a home draw but we will respect whichever side comes through," he said.

Harry Redknapp was also happy with a home draw when West Ham were pulled out against Sheffield Wednesday or Blackburn. "I'm delighted to be at home but it's a tough draw. Blackburn and Wednesday are two hard sides," he said. "But you cannot ask for any more than a home game.

The Crystal Palace striker, Bruce Dyer, was equally delighted to have been given an away draw at Arsenal after the Eagles' appalling record at Selhurst Park. Dyer, who hit a hat-trick to send Leicester crashing out of the Cup, said: "Our home form hasn't been the best this year so we've got to be pleased with an away draw.
