Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

WIMBLEDON PRODUCED the performance of the night to record a remarkable victory at Upton Park. West Ham went 3-0 up inside 27 minutes, but Wimbledon completed a thrilling recovery when Efan Ekoku hit the winning goal after 81 minutes to earn a 4-3 win.

Liverpool returned to the top of the Premiership, goals in each half by Patrik Berger and Jamie Redknapp accounting for Coventry at Anfield. Chelsea shared a goalless draw with Arsenal, who had Lee Dixon sent off.

Tottenham, playing their first match since the departure of Christian Gross, came from a goal down to beat Blackburn 2-1. Their next match, on Sunday, will see the return to White Hart Lane of Paul Gascoigne, who last night scored the only goal as Middlesbrough won at Leicester.

Lee Hendrie's penalty gave Aston Villa victory over Ruud Gullit's Newcastle and Dean Sturridge's goal for Derby was enough to beat Sheffield Wednesday.
