The Icelandic club KR Reykjavik, with only a handful of wins in European competition, knocked the top Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest out of the Uefa Cup yesterday.

Reykjavik gained a 2-1 away win at Dinamo to win the qualifying round tie 4-1 on aggregate. Rikhardur Dadasson, who also scored in the first leg, hit both goals in the first half.

A crowd of around Dinamo fans chanted "Shame on you" at their team throughout the match. "We will have to hide away at home for a long time now," the defender, Florin Batranu, said.

Dinamo boast a solid record in Europe, having reached the semi-finals of the European Cup in 1983-84, where they lost to the eventual winners, Liverpool. They also reached the semi-finals of the Cup-Winners' Cup in 1989-90. Reykjavik, founded in 1899, have now won four out of their 25 European ties since 1964.
