AS if trailing 1-0 to Barnet was not bad enough, Manchester City have several injury worries to some of their most experienced players for tonight's second leg in the Coca-Cola Cup. Goalkeeper Tony Coton (shoulder) and defender Keith Curle (hamstring) will be absent and striker Paul Walsh is doubtful because of an ankle problem.
There is some good news , however, for the City manager, Brian Horton. Gary Flitcroft, Peter Beagrie and Richard Edghill should be fit after suffering flu. Andy Hill, who pulled out of Saturday's Premiership game against Leeds with a strained back, is expected to recover and Uwe Rosler, who also missed the Leeds game, is back in light training.
Barnet have injury doubts over defender Shaun Gale and midfielder Peter Scott, but they will have their striker Mark Cooper back.
Manchester United again risk the ire of the Football League by recalling their youngsters who beat Port Vale 2-1 in their first leg. United, with Eric Cantona and Andrei Kanchelskis, both on international duty will also lack the injured trio of Ryan Giggs, Roy Keane and Mark Hughes while Paul Ince is also doubtful. That means recalls for Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt, Keith Gillespie, David Beckham and Simon Davies.
'We don't want a confrontation with the league but there are bound to be some changes from the side which played against Everton last Saturday,' Alex Ferguson, the United manager, said.
Aston Villa, the Cup holders, take advantage of a five-goal lead over Wigan to give their England Under-21 goalkeeper Michael Oakes his debut. Ron Atkinson, the Villa manager, said: 'It's on the cards Oakes will play from the start and he will certainly feature in some part of the game.'
With Dean Saunders and Kevin Richardson still ruled out, Villa are set to include Dave Farrell, Nii Lamptey and Graham Fenton.
