The Wolves manager, Mark McGhee, has signed two players from his his former club, Leicester. McGhee, who controversially walked out of Filbert Street for Molineux in December, has signed midfielder Steve Corica and goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac in a pounds 1.1m deal. Corica, a 22-year-old midfielder, has been signed in time for Saturday's game at Norwich but Kalac's move is subject to him receiving an extension to his work permit.

Russell Osman, the 37-year-old former England and Ipswich defender has joined Cardiff City after having his contract cancelled by Brighton.

Steve Harrison, the former England coach, yesterday joined Preston North End as first-team coach.

Len Ashurst, the former Sunderland, Cardiff and Newport manager, has returned to the British game after coaching in Malaysia by taking the job of manager of Weston-super-Mare, of the Beazer Homes League.

The Endsleigh League has announced there will be a minute's silence before all 32 First, Second and Third division matches on Saturday as a mark of respect for the former Liverpool manager, Bob Paisley, who died this week.

Paul Walsh, Portsmouth's former England striker, has been told he will not play again this season. Walsh, 33, tore cruciate ligaments during Pompey's 2-1 win over Leicester last Saturday.
