The Forfar Athletic manager, Tommy Campbell, has quit the club to take over at local rivals Arbroath, following last week's dismissal of John Brogan at Gayfield Park. Campbell leaves Forfar just two days before their first round Tennents Scottish Cup tie at Albion Rovers.

David Burnside, who has been managing the England Under-18 team, is to become the youth development director at Bristol City, and will take over his new role in January after spending 15 years working for the Football Association.

Motherwell have signed the Finnish midfielder Joni Lehtonen on loan from Ilves Tampere until the end of the season.
