Brighton, who are selling their Goldstone Ground next June to pay off debts of around pounds 4m, have had a winding up petition over unpaid VAT withdrawn by the Customs and Excise.

Emilio Butragueno, the former Real Madrid striker, has signed a two-year contract with Mexico's Atletico Celaya.

Ruben Sosa, the Uruguayan striker, looks set to move to Borussia Dortmund after three seasons with Internazionale. The Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport said Sosa and his agent were in Germany for talks with Dortmund.
