Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Merthyr Tydfil have been relegated from the GM Vauxhall Conference following an extraordinary meeting of the League. However, yesterday's meeting voted Hednesford in and Merthyr out by a 14-5 majority.

Birmingham have pulled out of a deal to sign Swansea's Welsh international winger, Jason Bowen, after a ruling by a transfer tribunal yesterday. The First Division club were told they would have to pay pounds 275,000, rising to pounds 350,000 after a certain number of appearances, plus 33 per cent of any sell-on profit.

The governing body of European football, Uefa, announced yesterday that they will await the outcome of legal proceedings into Marseille before investigating French press claims that the club rigged five or six matches a season in their five-year reign in French football. Marseille's former general manager, Jean-Pierre Bernes, has told fraud investigators that 30m francs (pounds 4m) from advertising revenue was spent on buying match referees, coaches or players from 1989 to 1993.
