Fallon observes a Beverley truce

Honours were even at Beverley yesterday between Kieran Fallon and Stuart Webster as they both rode a winner 12 months on from their dust-up at the track in which Fallon pulled Webster from his horse.

Fallon, who was banned for six months for violent conduct, yesterday punched home Weet-A-Minute in the auction race and refuted suggestions that a feud still simmers: "The six months I spent in the US during my ban did me the world of good. I feel much more confident."

Of Webster, Fallon said: "I hardly knew he was still around as I rarely see him on a day-to-day basis, but there are no hard feelings lingering between us."

Webster was not so sanguine as he reflected on the year: "It is not simply that incident last year. On 4 October, Blyton Lad died and that, in itself, was bigger than the Fallon dispute. Having the two come at the same time was disastrous. I've had 66 rides this year compared to 220 at the same stage last year and I can't even ride Sailormaite in the Ayr Gold Cup as he's too far down the handicap."
