Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

However, Dunwoody was passed fit by the course doctor and is able to return to action today. Conditional jockey Eugene Husband missed the ride on Divertimiento in the County Hurdle after being mildly concussed following a fall from Big Treat in the opening Daily Express Triumph Hurdle.
Richard Johnson picked up his second whip ban of the Cheltenham Festival and will miss the Grand National meeting. David Nicholson's rider was adjudged to have used his whip with unreasonable frequency aboard Air Shot, the runner-up at Challenger Du Luc in the Cathcart, and was banned for four days (27-30 March).
Nicholson was furious over the stewards' treatment of his jockey. Johnson had been banned for four days yesterday after riding Mr Mulligan into second place in the Sun Alliance Chase. David Bridgwater was also banned for two days, (23-25 March), for improper use of the whip on Cyborgo.
n Dean McKeown was banned for two days (23 March and 25 March) for hitting his mount Progression after the winning post in 4.55 at Lingfield. It means the jockey misses the William Hill Lincoln.
