From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Yuvraj Singh has been ruled out of India's one-day international against Sri Lanka after coming down with dengue fever.

"Yuvraj Singh is not available for this game. He has dengue. But he is out of danger," Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said.

India, who were thrashed by New Zealand by 200 runs – after being bowled out for 88 – in their first match of the triangular series in Dambul last Tuesday, have already lost pace bowler Zaheer Khan and opening batsman Gautam Gambhir to injury. Dhoni said queries also remain over bowlers Ashish Nehra and Ishant Sharma.

"We are monitoring Ashish Nehra. He has got a bit of problem with his glute. So we will take the exact decision before the game. Ishant is shaping well. As of now, these are the two players who may be missing out," Dhoni said.

Dhoni, however, dismissed reports that wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik, who hurt his hand during yesterday's practice session, is doubtful for today's match.

"Dinesh Karthik got hit on his thumb but he is fine and it is not a major concern," he said.
