After the hosts chose to bat first, Joe Root got the momentum going with 65 off 40 balls. Then the Zimbabwean Gary Ballance smashed 46 off 20 balls and South Africa's David Miller made 50 off 25 balls to allow Yorkshire to post a formidable 212 for 5 in their 20 overs. Phil Hughes remained unbeaten on 80 off 53 balls for the visitors but the Australian received little support as the run-chase subsided on 183 for 6.
Hampshire also made it to the finals late last night, beating Nottinghamshire by four wickets.
