White hundred staves off another Yorkshire collapse
Yorkshire's Craig White fired a reminder to the England selectors yesterday with a battling century to hold together another wobbly batting performance from the defending champions against Kent in the Frizzell County Championship First Division at Canterbury. White made 104 before being caught by Mark Ealham off the bowling of Min Patel, as Yorkshire limped to 239 all out.
Kent's Denmark international Amjad Khan recorded career-best bowling figures of 6 for 52. David Fulton and Robert Key then put on 61 without loss for the home side.
The Somerset captain, Jamie Cox, hit a brilliant 176 as Somerset took control of their match with Leicestershire at Taunton. Cox shared in a first-wicket stand of 184 with Matthew Wood, who hit 79, before Michael Burns took over to add 52. Peter Bowler was also unbeaten on 45 as the home side closed on 390 for 3.
