Kent, all out for 210 earlier in the day, followed on 422 runs behind and were dismissed for 253. Leicestershire's captain Vince Wells, who scored 138 of Leicestershire's 612 for 8 declared, helped polish off the Kent tail, finishing with 5 for 36.
In the Second Division, Derbyshire's Chris Bassano celebrated his championship debut with an unbeaten 186 at Derby against Gloucestershire. His innings helped Derbyshire pass their follow-on target. They closed on 432 for 5.
Robin Weston and Stephen Fleming put Middlesex in control against Warwickshire with a second-wicket stand of 181 at Edgbaston. Weston hit 100 while the New Zealand captain Fleming fell just eight short of his third hundred of the season as Middlesex left the Bears needing 382 for victory.
The Sussex openers, Richard Montgomerie and Murray Goodwin, hit 160 and 203 respectively yesterday as Sussex declared on 372 without loss, leaving Nottinghamshire a target of 447. At the close they were 16 for 1.
