Surrey inspired by Hollioake

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. An inspired bowling performance by Adam Hollioake led Surrey to a comfortable victory over Kent at Canterbury last night in the National League First Division.
The win keeps the leaders, Surrey, on course for their second title of the season after they won the Twenty20 competition. Surrey need one more point from their remaining two matches to ensure they beat Gloucestershire to the title.
Kent were skittled for 142 in just 31.4 overs and were ripped apart by Hollioake's straight bowling which saw him take six wickets, which included three lbws. The Surrey captain returned figures of 6 for 17 off just 4.4 overs.
The Australian Andrew Symonds (53) was the only Kent batsman to make a meaningful contribution before he, too, fell leg before to Hollioake.
Mark Ramprakash (42 not out) and Hollioake (38) then led Surrey's chase, which they completed for the loss of five wickets with eight overs to spare.
