Your support makes all the difference.The Netherlands posted an impressive total of 239 for 6 in their first Clydesdale Bank Pro40 fixture of the season, against Gloucestershire yesterday. After losing the toss and being put in at Bristol, the Dutch reached their total thanks to Stephanus Myburgh's impressive 77, which featured 11 fours and two sixes, and Cameron Borgas's 38. Ed Young, who picked up 2 for 31, was the pick of Gloucestershire's bowlers.
At Headingley, Yorkshire laboured to 175 for 9 against Kent. The home team's captain, Andrew Gale, made 44 and Joe Root 48 as they kept the innings together, with the Tykes having been 22 for 4 at one point as Matt Coles (6 for 32) ripped their batting order apart.
At the Grange, Surrey beat Scotland by 18 runs in their Group B match. Surrey batted first and made 187 for 7, with the former Yorkshire batsman Jacques Rudolph pinning the innings together by hitting a commendable 69. Only Steve Davies joined him for any length of time and in getting over 20.
Scotland fell short in their run chase, in an innings affected by rain. Richie Berrington top-scored with an unbeaten 43 but his side were unable to reach the total, losing via the Duckworth Lewis method.
Elsewhere, Lancashire powered to a score of 296 for 3 in their meeting with Leicestershire at Old Trafford. The opening pair of Stephen Moore (74) and Ashwell Prince (79) contrived a stand of 135, while Steven Croft made 82 from 71 balls.
Derbyshire also delivered a big total, making 287 for 3 against the Unicorns. Martin Guptill and Wes Durston received the acclaim, putting on a second-wicket stand of 216, the former making 122 and the latter 119.
Finally, at Edgbaston, Northamptonshire got to 209 for 7 against Warwickshire.
The Northants captain, Andrew Hall, hit two fours and one six in making an unbeaten 52 as Keith Barker, who took 3 for 41, impressed with the ball for the Bears.
